The Taiwan Textile Federation (TTF) promotes Taiwan’s textile industry in Europe, and invited me to deliver a lecture to TTF employees as part of their professional development, introducing them to historical costume research.
To illustrate the application of different forms of research, I provided reproduction corsets and costumes for the audience to interact with and even try on, as well as authentic 19th century garments to study at first hand and a selection of important books. My hope is that TTF staff will apply their new-found appreciation of historical clothing in future projects.
